• Choose the right direction: Gua sha is typically performed in upward and outward motions. Start from the center of your face or body and move towards the hairline or lymphatic drainage areas. You can also use specific techniques to target certain areas, such as the jawline or forehead.
• Apply gentle strokes: Using gentle, smooth strokes, scrape the skin with the gua sha stone. Maintain a consistent pressure without applying excessive force. The strokes should be comfortable and not cause any pain or discomfort.
• Follow a pattern: Work in sections, focusing on one area at a time. Common areas to target include the forehead, cheeks, jawline, neck, and shoulders. Repeat each stroke 3-5 times or as desired.
